1. Common Migraine Headaches

Also called absence migraine.  Accounts for 80% of migraines.  No “Aura” before a common migraine like there is in a “classic migraine”.  Symptoms can include irritability, depressed or “high” feeling, visual disturbances, nausea and or vomiting, sensitivity to light and usually unilateral head pain (one sided)

2. Silent or acephalgic Migraine

Migraine without any head pain, but with aura and other visual disturbances, nausea and other aspects of migraine.

3. Hemiplegic Migraine

Can feel like a stroke with weakness on one side of the body, loss of sensation or feeling of “pins and needles” however head pain may not be severe.

4. Retinal Migraine

Temporary visual loss in one eye with other migraine symptoms present.  Can last minutes to months but usually reversible.  Often sign of deeper medical condition and should seek medical attention.

5. Chronic Migraine

A migraine that is more than 15 days per month.

6. Status Migraine

Typically last from 4-72 hours.  Vary in frequency from daily to less than once per year.
